Tires and Uses Covered
Congratulations! You have just purchased quality tires
from a BRIDGESTONE, FIRESTONE or ASSOCIATED
BRANDS dealer. They are referred to in this manual as
THE DEALER. This limited warranty covers BRIDGESTONE,
FIRESTONE, DAYTON, FUZION, GILLETTE,
PEERLESS, LEMANS and ROAD KING brand passenger
and light truck tires. Tires branded "USED" are not
warranted.
Who Gets the Warranty?
This limited warranty only applies to the original purchaser.
You are covered under the terms of this limited warranty
if your tire was purchased after January 1, 2006 and
was produced after July 1, 2004 (DOT serial 2704 or later)
and has been used only on the vehicle on which it was
originally installed in non-commercial service and is of a
size and speed rating equivalent to or greater than that
specified by your vehicle manufacturer.
What is Warranted and For
How Long?
If within the stated period from the date of purchase (Proof
of Purchase Date Required) or the stated period from the
date of manufacture or before wearing down to 2/32nds of
an inch remaining original tread depth (i.e. worn down to the top of the built-in indicators in the tread grooves), whichever
occurs first, for any reason other than those excluded under
“What This Limited Warranty Does Not Cover” on page 3
of this manual, any tire covered by this limited warranty
becomes unusable for any reason within the manufacture’s
control, such tire will be replaced with an equivalent new
tire on the basis set forth on pages 4 through 7 Without
proof of purchase date, the date of tire manufacture will be
used to determine age.

Replacement Warranty for All Brands
If you receive a replacement tire under this warranty, it will
be covered by the manufacturer's warranty and the supplemental
mileage limited warranty the manufacturer then
gives on that tire at that time.
Where to go
Tire adjustments under this warranty will only be made at a
Bridgestone, Firestone and Associated Brand Dealer
Location. They are listed in the Yellow Pages under "Tire
Dealers-Retail".
Consumer Rights
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may
also have other rights which vary from state to state.
Conditions
and Exclusions
To the extent permitted by law, Bridgestone Firestone
North American Tire, LLC disclaims all other warranties,
including but not limited to the implied warranties
of merchantability and fitness for a particular
purpose and any liability for incidental and consequential
damages, loss of time, loss of vehicle use or inconvenience.
Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of
incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation
or exclusion may not apply to you.
This warranty
applies only to consumers actually using the tire in the
United States. For warranty conditions outside the United
States, see your local Bridgestone Firestone distributor.
Obligations under this policy may not be enlarged or
altered by anyone.
Important: In accordance with Federal Law, this warranty
has been designated as a "Limited Warranty." Nothing in
this warranty is intended to be a representation that tire
failures cannot occur. This warranty is given by
Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC,
535 Marriott Dr., Nashville, TN 37214.
Owner's
Obligations
Important: Proper tire care is necessary to obtain the
maximum mileage and wear from a tire. In order to keep
your limited warranty valid, we require you to have
your tires rotated and inspected per the recommended
procedures outlined in the "Radial Tire Rotation" section
of this manual, and to furnish proof of same at the
time you make your warranty adjustment. Such proof
should show the date, mileage, and approval of the servicing
location. A sales receipt containing this information
will suffice. Tire rotation schedules can be kept in the
"Maintenance Record" section provided in this manual. It
is your obligation to see that your tire/wheel assemblies
are in balance and that your tires are operated at proper
cold inflation pressures. Check pressure of each of your
tires, including spare, monthly when the tires are cold and
adjust as necessary per your owner's manual.
When submitting an adjustment, you must present your
original invoice along with this warranty, complete and
sign the customer section of THE DEALER adjustment
form, and return the tire.
Arbitration
You and Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC
agree that all claims, disputes, and controversies between
you and it, including any of its agents, employees, successors,
or assigns, arising out of or in connection with this
warranty, or any other warranties, express or implied,
including a failure of warranty and the validity of this
arbitration clause, but excluding claims for personal injury
or property damage, shall be resolved by binding arbitration
between you and it, according to the formal dispute
resolution procedures of the National Arbitration Forum,
under the Code of Procedure then in effect. This arbitration
will be conducted as a document hearing. If you
request any procedures beyond a document hearing, you
will be responsible for all fees, including filing and administrative
fees, above and beyond the fees required for document
hearings. The arbitration between you and
Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC shall not
include any other customers, be combined or consolidated
in any fashion with arbitrations involving other customers,
or proceed in any form of class action in which the claims
of numerous customers are considered together. Any
award of the arbitrator(s) may be entered as a judgment in
any court of competent jurisdiction. The arbitrators willhave
no authority to award punitive or other damages not
measured by the prevailing party's actual damages, except
as may be required by statute. Information may be
obtained and claims may be filed at any office of the
National Arbitration Forum or at P.O. Box 50191,
Minneapolis, MN 55405.
UTQG Standards
The Uniform Tire Quality Grading ("UTQG") standards
are intended to assist you in making an informed
choice in your purchase of passenger car tires by providing
information indicating relative performance in
the areas of tread wear, wet stopping traction, and
temperature resistance. All passenger car tires must
conform to federal safety requirements in addition to
these grades.
TREADWEAR
The treadwear grade is a comparative rating based on the
wear rate of the tire when tested under controlled conditions
on a specified government test course. For example,
a tire graded 150 would wear one and one half (11/2) times
as well on the government course as a tire graded 100.
The relative performance of tires depends upon the actualconditions
of their use, however, and may depart signifcantly from the norm due to variation in driving habits,
service practices and differences in road characteristics
and climate.
TRACTION
The traction grades, from highest to lowest, are AA, A, B,
and C, and they represent the tire's ability to stop on wet
pavement as measured under controlled conditions on
specified government test surfaces of asphalt and concrete.
 |
WARNING: WARNING: The traction grade assigned to
tires is based on braking (straight ahead) traction
tests and does not include cornering (turning)
traction. |
TEMPERATURE
The temperature grades are A (the highest), B, and C, representing
the tire's resistance to the generation of heat and
its ability to dissipate heat when tested under controlled
conditions on a specified indoor laboratory test wheel.
Sustained high temperature can cause the material of the
tire to degenerate and reduce tire life, and excessive temperature
can lead to sudden tire failure. The grade C corresponds
to a level of performance which all passenger car
tires must meet under the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety
Standard No.109. Grades B and A represent higher levels
of performance on the laboratory test wheel than the minimum
required by law.
 |
WARNING: The temperature grade is established
for a tire that is properly inflated and
not overloaded. Excessive speed, under-inflation,
or excessive loading either separately or
in combination can cause heat buildup and a possible
tire failure. |
Tire Information
A lot can be learned by reading the tire's sidewall. The following
illustrations show typical information on the sidewall
of passenger car and light truck tires.
Illustration No.1 depicts the typical information on the
sidewall of a passenger tire:
“P215/65R15 95H” Size marking and Service Description
(load index, speed symbol) for a P-Metric speed-rated pa
senger tire. Tire sizes with a series (profile) use a number
such as "65", "70", "75", or "80", to indicate tire's profile
or height to width ratio. For example, as Illustration 1A
shows, "65 Series" means that the tire's sidewall is approximately
65% as high as it is wide.
“Radial” Every radial construction tire must show the
word “radial” on the sidewall.

Typical Passenger Car Tire Sidewall
“Max. Load 685 KG (1510 LBS) 240kPa (35PSI)
Maximum Pressure” Indicates load limits and corresponding
maximum cold inflation pressure for that load. P
Metric sidewall markings are given in both metric and
English units. Your tire's sidewall indicates the maximum
air pressure to which it should be inflated under most circumstances
(see exceptions in the High Speed section
regarding LT designated tires). The vehicle manufacturer
Illustration 1A
Series (Profile)
recommends the front and rear tire pressures for the tires
mounted on your vehicle. The vehicle manufacturer's recommended
tire pressures may be lower than, or the same
as, the maximum pressure indicated on the tire sidewall.
The vehicle manufacturer's specification of tire pressure is
limited to that particular vehicle and takes into account the
vehicle loading, ride, and handling characteristics, among
other criteria. Since there are potentially several possible vehicle applications for any given tire size, note that a
vehicle manufacturer may choose a different inflation
pressure specification for that same size tire for a different
vehicle. Therefore, always keep the vehicle manufacturer's
recommended air pressure in all your tires, including the
spare. For normal operation, follow the pressure
recomendations in owner’s manual, on vehicle tire
information placard, or on the certification label.
Note: The operating pressure is based on a number of factors
(like load), and so may not be the same as the maximum
inflation pressure on the tire’s sidewall. For example,
the U.S. Department of Transportation now allows
240 kPa (35 psi), 300 kPA (44 psi), or 350 kPa (51 psi)
inflation pressures for standard load tires, but, no increase
in the tire’s load [from that of the 240 kPa (35 psi) pressure]
is allowed.
“Tread 4 plies 2 XXX cord 2 XXXX cord sidewall 2
plies XXXX cord” 4 plies under tread (2 xxxx cord 2
xxxx cord), 2 plies in sidewall (xxxx cord) indicates tire
ply composition and materials used.
““DOT xxxx xxxxxx” The “DOT” symbol certifies tire
manufacturer's compliance with U.S. Department of
Transportation tire safety standards. Next to this is the tire
identification or "serial number." The first two letters identify
the plant where the tire was manufactured. The next
two numbers reflect the tire size. The following one to
four digits may be used at the tire manufacturer's option as
a descriptive code. The last three characters are numbers
identifying the week and year of manufacture. (Example:
“025” means second week of the year or decade, e.g.:
1995, 1985, etc. Other characters are the manufacturer’s
coding for size/type and plant of manufacture.
For the 1990-1999 decade some tires may be marked with
a symbol (such as an isosceles right triangle) pointing to
the identification number.
Tires produced after July 2000 have an additional digit to
identify a given decade. For example, 0200 means the tire
was produced during the second week of 2000; 0201 during
the second week of 2001.
“Tubeless” The tire must be marked either “tubeless” or
“tube type”.
